the cave


Premise:

The Cave is a small exploration level where I have designing a natural space, more organic that the previous personal projects I have done. The goal is to traverse an underground cave. Therefore, it is quite different, is quite straight forward and architects a fine simplicity. The level features some small environment puzzle where the player can lower bridges in order to find his way through. The player can jump, crouch and activate buttons in terms of verbs. He can also collect come crystals and will encounter some light platforming challenges. Designed in: March 2022.

Motivation:

The intention was to have a bit of fun by doing something light and atmospheric that could be part of a bigger level, whether it is the introduction, the middle or the end.

Method:

The cave is built mainly with substractive brushes grouped together to create some modularity and rapidity in the level building process. Almost a bit like a kit. The group of brushes can be customized by offestting the vertices differently. It brings a layer of personality to the space by playing with different cap shapes to create a varied navigation flow.
